No Smartphone
& Internet, a new way of teaching in online classes
and inspiration to all.
As and when the coronavirus entered into India, with this pandemic of the coronavirus whole country was in lockdown continuously since 4 months and started slowly to open the areas where there are no new cases with some restrictions. This lockdown has resulted in the closure of educational systems in all the areas including schools and colleges and all the institutions globally. As this continues, there would be a huge impact on the student’s career.
Schools thought of providing an uninterrupted learning to their students, this thought bought a rise of E-learning almost in all areas, where teacher start teaching the students from remote areas and on digital platforms. This goes well if everything supports. With this digital learning students could also be benefited. But, the fact behind this with the survey said that 46.6% of the families did not have smartphones/android phones with them.
On one side some of the parents are not in a position who cannot afford smartphone to their children only because of this reason. On the other side, those who are having the smartphone and can attend for the classes, students are not showing interest to attend classes as this is completely a new environment to them. These two became the biggest problems to the management.
“Asghar Ali” 30 year old person who is a class teacher in government school from Uttar Pradesh, started new way of teaching. He started calling the students one by and started to teach them over the phone. Ali said, “Only the parents of 3 or 4 students are available on WhatsApp, the rest have normal phones, some would be in farms, other might not be at home. When they reach home they give a missed call and I call them back”. He would keep calling the students and teach who ever responds to him.
Ali start’s his teaching around 10Am daily in the morning till 6 pm in the evening by calling upon every students. Who ever available, he spends about half an hour to each student and starts teaching them. On an average in a day he teaches up to 14 students. For the students of 2nd standard he found a new method of teaching the poems and named it as “content-based poems´. He has written poems on fruits and vegetables and recite it to the students to make them remember easily.
As it is not possible to teach all subjects over the phone, he will tell the students to study a particular section from the text book and then asks them to recite it back to him the next day. He also records his lessons and puts them up on his YouTube Channel named “Innovative Primary” and the he shares the link to the students. Who have the facility of internet will go and look at the videos.
